Hey everyone!
A lot of you have support questions about the Wii U version of Runner2, and we're in the process of releasing a patch for the game that will do the following:
- At the start of the game, when it asks you if you want to log in, we've added some feedback so it doesn't look like the game is hanging.
- The leaderboards will only save your highest score, as expected, instead of your most recent score, which it does now.
- If you lose your internet connection during play, we've allowed you to reconnect by going to the leaderboards menu.
- We've fixed false score reporting for in-game Rewards.
- We've fixed an issue with the level start mini-leaderboard telling you you're offline when you're actually online. It will populate this list with global scores if you don't have any friends who have played the game yet.
- We've fixed an issue in the settings menu that resets your settings every time you enter the menu.
And last, but not least, we've tried to fix the issue that locks up the Wii U system upon powering down or quitting out of the game via the HOME Menu.
But a note on that final issue: We had never experienced this issue on our devkits, during development, so it seems that this is an issue that only occurs on retail Wii Us. This makes it super gnarly to debug. It might not even be our bug. But we have tried to fix it.
Thanks to everyone who is playing and loving the Wii U version! We truly appreciate all the positive feedback, and rest assured that we are listening to all your feedback and considering everything you say!
After all, we have made this game for you to enjoy, and we want to make sure you can enjoy the pants off of it.

Bear with me. This is not grounded in technical logic whatsoever, but read on...
I have managed to find a workaround to quitting out of Runner2 that has worked for me at home:
I pretend that when I hit the HOME Button I'm gently letting the game know that I am about to quit, then I sit there and roll my eyes a bit, pick some lint off my clothes (<-very important step), and then once I think that the game is ready to quit, I gently select "Close Software", and so far, and I'm not kidding, this has worked 100% of my tries.
Also, we have had good success by visiting the Miiverse for a little while, from the HOME Menu, and then quitting or powering down from within the Miiverse.
Let us know if either of these workarounds have given you success.
I have a 100% success rate with those workarounds as well. I can also confirm that the lint-picking step is indeed critical.
The occasional freeze-upon-startup bug may be even trickier, though. It's happened to me twice, and I'm not sure what causes it. The only suggestion I can come up with is not trying to play the game immediately after powering on your console or immediately after closing another application.
I hope you pass this info along to Nintendo so if it is their issue they can fix it.
Thanks!
Hey Alex, I saw Jason posted a comment over on Reddit and I posted a reply there, but I wanted to mention it here as well.
If it's not a whole lotta work, Pro Controller (Or even the old Wii Classic Controller, as well) support would be aces.
I don't really do the off-screen play, and if I could play Runner 2 with a different controller, I could put the gamepad aside and turn off the screen to avoid any distractions.
Anwyho, I'm roughly halfway through The Supernature and having a blast, looking forward to your future developments.

P.S. - I sent you and and Mike Friend Invites on the Wii U via your Miiverse posts. I won't be terribly upset if you deny them, but how sweet would it be if you accepted it? Hint hint.
That's a fantastic fix you have there. Works too!
I'm actually going to +1 mjallemand's post and say that I DESPERATELY WANT pro controller support. I'd still be playing the game right now, except that my tablet controller's battery died. I'm actually not very partial to the tablet controller as a whole, and I feel like playing through Runner 2 with the pro controller would be a great alternative... any odds of that happening?
Even with that said, you've all done some phenomenal work with Runner 2. So many compliments on making a fantastic follow-up to a fantastic game.
Well now I feel bad. I just found out that this team had a website, so I send off an email about this problem, I find out there's a forum, I see this, and I feel stupid. Disregard my email guys. Sorry for wasting your time.
But it's good to know that it wasn't your guys' fault and is instead on the hardware itself. Seems weird.
The subject of this post looks a little daunting, but it is simply a nagging issue that takes away from an otherwise perfect game experience. In recent play sessions, I have still encountered a hard-lock of my WiiU system every time I shut down the game. I have effectively cleaned all of the lint from my closet of clothing in waiting for the "soft close" of the game. One time during the gentle closing experiment, I literally baked a cake before shutting the game down, but it still locked up my WiiU.
All of the patches/updates are installed on my deluxe system and it is getting to be a bummer because I hate unplugging my system while it is on. I feel like it may damage something at some point and have taken to not playing Runner 2 -- the biggest travesty of all.
Please help!
